GREETINGS:
It gives me great pleasure to join with the citizens of
Pennsylvania to celebrate the contributions of our
nation's perianesthesia nurses to the overall success
of medical care and the health of patients.
As health care professionals work diligently to provide
for the growing, changing, and diverse needs of their
patients, the expertise of perianesthesia nurses
becomes increasingly important to help physicians,
staff, and patients achieve the best outcomes.
Perianesthesia nurses have extensive education,
training, and experience administering care in a
variety of hospital, ambulatory care, and health
facility settings as well as in all phases of
pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia care,
ambulatory surgery, pain management, and special
procedure areas.
With the rising complexities of health care and the
need for advanced services for our aging population,
perianesthesia nurses will continue to play an even
greater role in the quality of patient care. I thank the
American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses, the
Pennsylvania Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses,
and everyone these organizations represent for
maintaining the highest professional standards and
advancing this specialty through education and research.
As Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,
I commend the dedicated perianesthesia nurses of
our state and throughout the nation for their
commitment to the improvement of our health care
system and the welfare of patients. I am pleased to
join the citizens of Pennsylvania to recognize
February 5 - 11, 2007, as Perianesthesia Nurse
Awareness Week.
Signed
EDWARD G. RENDELL
