PAPAN PATIENT ADVOCATE AWARD
POLICY: The purpose of the patient advocate award is to recognize individuals who demonstrate extraordinary clinical expertise, compassion, commitment, initiative and problem solving skills in an effort to intervene on a patient's or family's behalf.
PROCEDURE: A. Candidate must be a member of PAPAN who is recognized by peers and others as exemplifying nursing excellence in the care of patients. B. Candidate must demonstrate astute patient assessment skills, insightful approaches to diverse patient circumstances, clinical expertise, commitment to achieve a satisfactory patient/family outcome and advanced problem solving skills. C. Candidates must be nominated by a current PAPAN member. D. The nominator portion of the application must be sent to the Membership Chairperson by February 20. E. The nominee portion of the application must be sent to the Membership Chairperson by February 20. F. The Membership committee will evaluate the forms, complete reference checks on the candidates and make recommendations for the award at the Spring BOD meeting. The BOD will vote at that time. G. The candidate will be notified of her/his selection by the Membership Chairperson. H. The award will consist of: Recipient will receive a paid $25.00 PAPAN membership, a plaque and a $100 cash award. Nominator will receive a paid $25.00 PAPAN membership. Unit where recipient works will receive $100 to be used for PANAW week.
